Make informed decisions
before work begins.

A practical starting point for homeowners in Essex and London.

01 / Explore

Your main decisions

Fascia boards support the roof-edge detail and commonly carry the gutters. Soffits close the underside of the eaves; their ventilation detail must suit the roof.

Choose between suitable timber, uPVC and other specified materials by considering appearance, maintenance and how they meet the existing roof.

Agree gutter profile, colour and downpipe positions alongside the boards. A neat appearance is only part of a working rainwater system.

02 / Prepare

Before you request a quote

  • Inspect existing timber and roof-edge details before deciding on replacement or over-capping.
  • Ask how roof ventilation and access to concealed defects will be dealt with.
  • Confirm where every downpipe discharges and whether existing outlets need attention.
03 / Compare

What your quote should cover

  • Access equipment or scaffold, removal and disposal.
  • Board dimensions, material, colour, joints and fixings.
  • Treatment of defective timber and an agreed process for extra work.
  • Gutters, brackets, outlets, downpipes and a flow check.

A typical project sequence

01Survey and access planning
02Expose and assess the existing roofline
03Repair and install agreed components
04Check water flow, finish and handover

Completion & handover

Ask the installer to show how the gutter drains and where maintenance access is provided. Record any areas that could not be inspected.

Walk through the work together, list outstanding items and agree who will resolve them and when. Keep relevant care instructions, certificates and written warranty terms.
