Make informed decisions
before work begins.

A practical starting point for homeowners in Essex and London.

01 / Explore

Your main decisions

A like-for-like layout can simplify a renovation. Moving a WC or shower may change the drainage route, floor build-up and amount of making good.

A walk-in shower needs space, a suitable waterproofing system and a workable waste route. Tiles and grout alone should not be treated as the waterproofing design.

Concealed cisterns and wall-hung fittings create a clean appearance, but support frames and service access need planning before the walls are closed.

02 / Prepare

Before you request a quote

  • Measure clearances for doors, drawers, shower screens and comfortable use.
  • Have water supply, waste routes and ventilation assessed before ordering fittings.
  • Agree tile setting-out, niches, lighting and access panels before installation.
03 / Compare

What your quote should cover

  • Strip-out, protection and disposal of the old suite.
  • Plumbing changes, substrates and waterproofing scope.
  • Tiling area, trims, grout, sealant and decoration.
  • Ventilation, electrical work, testing and applicable certificates.

A typical project sequence

01Layout and specification
02Strip-out and assess the substrate
03First-fix services and waterproofing
04Fit, finish, test and hand over

Completion & handover

Operate taps, flush the WC, test drainage and check access panels with the installer. Keep waterproofing and product details. A straightforward refit may not need building-control approval, but associated drainage, electrical or structural work may.

Walk through the work together, list outstanding items and agree who will resolve them and when. Keep relevant care instructions, certificates and written warranty terms.
