Make informed decisions
before work begins.

A practical starting point for homeowners in Essex and London.

01 / Explore

Your main decisions

Start with the real bed size and the space around it. Include bedside furniture and the opening arc of wardrobe doors.

Fitted storage can make awkward spaces useful, but allow for ventilation, sockets and access to any services behind it.

Lighting works best when general light, bedside use and dressing areas are considered together. Plan controls from the doorway and the bed.

02 / Prepare

Before you request a quote

  • Measure furniture and test the layout with tape on the floor.
  • Inspect cold or damp areas before concealing walls with fitted furniture.
  • Discuss noise, heating, curtains and floor finishes alongside decoration.
03 / Compare

What your quote should cover

  • Removal, wall and ceiling preparation, and surface repairs.
  • Joinery dimensions, internal layout and finish samples.
  • Lighting and socket changes with any required certification.
  • Flooring, thresholds, skirting, decoration and waste removal.

Completion & handover

Check drawers, wardrobe doors and access to sockets. If the project alters walls or creates a new habitable room, get project-specific advice on structure, ventilation and fire safety rather than treating it as decoration only.

Walk through the work together, list outstanding items and agree who will resolve them and when. Keep relevant care instructions, certificates and written warranty terms.
